KECO Adapters - Instructions

Instructions for KBar and Slide Hammers

Centipede Adapters:

The rugged Centipede adapter is available in three lengths–

  • 25mm
  • 50mm
  • 100mm
Made of extruded aluminum, these tools are excellent companions for pulling the toughest dents with the KBar System. These adapters can also be used with a slide hammer. (The Slide Hammer Adapter 410-6002-SWV, available separately, is required to join the Centipede adaptor to any slide hammer.)

 Slide Hammer Adapter:

Slide Hammer Adapter

This heavy duty apparatus generates a tight, consistent, and strong joint between the Slide Hammer and KECO’s Centipede Adapters. Using a series of easy-to-adjust locking mechanisms, the technician now has the ability to secure any KECO adapter to the Slide Hammer. The tightly locked system allows for the full transfer of pulling energy without additional handling.

To gain this advantage in speed and power, insert the flange nut into the slot of the Slide Hammer. Tighten the locking block until proper contact is made. Slip the T-Nut on the opposite end into the Centipede Adapter (sold separately) and tighten the round thumb nut until a strong joint is made.

To remove, simply loosen the thumb nut until the Centipede Adapter can be removed.

Super Tab Adapter (for use with KBar):

Super Tab Adapter with Super Tab

KECO’s KBar Lifting System can also be configured for use with our Super Tab glue pulling tabs. Using the Slide Hammer adapter, a high strength, mechanical joint can be achieved between the Super Tab and the KBar. The combination creates a robust, stable, and repeatable joint that allows the technician to adjust lifting pressure and dent manipulation without additional focus on the tab stem.

To take full advantage of this mechanism, begin by carefully removing the threaded bolt from the Super Tab. Re-insert the threaded adapter. Carefully prepare the metal surface for glue pulling and adding adhesive to the face of the Super Tab. Taking care not to disrupt the tab’s glue bond, position the T-Nut of the adapter into the corresponding slot on the KBar. Slide in until a positive fit is achieved. Once this is accomplished, lifting and dent manipulation can begin.

To remove, slide the adaptor out of T-nut on the corresponding slot on the KBar. The Super Tab adapter can be unscrewed from the Super Tab base. Use traditional methods to remove the Super Tab from the metal surface.

To use your Slide Hammer to pull Super Tabs:

In order to use your Slide Hammer to pull Super Tabs with best results, the Super Tab adapter and the Slide Hammer adapter must be used.

Begin by removing the threaded bolt from the Super Tab. Insert the threaded element of the Slide Hammer Adapter into the tab. Prepare the dent surface and the tab for adhesive. While the adhesive is bonding the tab to the surface, insert the flange nut of the Slide Hammer Adapter into the slot of the slide hammer.  Tighten with the locking block until solid contact is made. Next, slide the T-Nut of the Super Tab adapter into the T-channel of the Slide Hammer adapter.  Tighten the thumb screw until solid contact is achieved. Pull/manipulate the dent when adhesive is set.

To remove, reverse thumb screw until adapter can be slid away from contact with the opposite element.  The locking block can be unscrewed from the slide hammer slot for release.

U-Bolt Adapter:

The U-Bolt is perfect for techs who wish to use something other than a traditional tool. Great for ratcheting using straps and hooks. To use the U-Bolt, simply slide into any centipede adapter and tighten. Attach to a centipede that has been glued to the dented vehicle and begin pulling. The U-Bolt gives the pull equal distribution along the entire centipede for long creases and large dents.
